H3ll Noooooooooooooo !!!!!!!!!!!!
People have no idea of the dynamics of a classroom of 20+ students.
And when you add another student it isn't just 20+1; its 20x 1.
Each interacting with another.
An online person has interaction with ?????????
Are these online instructors required to obtain the same credentials as an in-classroom instructor? My guess is that yes they do. I would recommend that readers visit the website at jcesc.k12.oh.us and learn about the VLA. I have been living in this Valley for most of my life and did not know that Jefferson County had this virtual academy. I did live in another state that used online learning for years. In my opinion, virtual academies and distance learning is the way that all schools should operate. Think of the cost savings! No buildings, no buses none of the operating costs and overhead related to brick and mortar schools, plus the kids would be safer at home, right? I obtained the majority of my college degree online (Thanks EGCC) and took lots of military and professional courses online. It works and I believe the educational outcome is at least the same or better than classroom learning. So, I think that yes, they should receive the same benefits.
I also think that the "Interaction" argument is bogus. Firstly, kids today interact online more than people realize, cell phones, I-Pads etc. Of course some people need the socializing etc, but they can still get that from sports and other organized activities. The class room is supposed to be for learning, period. Why wouldn't you want to eliminate the distraction of the classroom dynamics? Why would you want to continue the 20x1 problem. Maybe the Virtual classroom could actually help the educational process and allow a kid to learn at his/her own pace?
