Hilltoppers Jump to No. 4 in

Coaches' Top 25

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The West Liberty University men's basketball team jumped up two spots to No. 4 on Tuesday when the National Association of Basketball Coaches released its weekly NCAA Division II Top 25 poll.

Coach Jim Crutchfield's Mountain East Conference champions posted a pair of double-digit wins last week to take advantage of what proved to be a rough seven days for other members of last week's Top 25.

Three of the top 8 teams in last week's national poll - No. 2 Drury (Mo.), No. 4 Indianapolis and No. 8 Florida Southern - all tasted defeat last week, which forced a reshuffling at the top of this week's honor roll.

Metro State, Colo. (23-1) collected 15 of the 16 first-place votes to hang onto the No. 1 spot for the fourth consecutive week. Tarleton State, Texas (23-1) grabbed the other first-place vote and moved up a spot to No. 2 with Atlantic Region rival East Stroudsburg, Pa. (24-1) holding off the Hilltoppers (23-2) for No. 3. Drury (23-2), checked in at No. 5, followed by Southern Connecticut State (23-2), California Baptist (23-1), South Carolina-Aiken (24-3), Indianapolis (22-3) and Colorado School of Mines (22-3).
