EGCC graduates

get-together set

Eastern Gateway Community College's Alumni Association is inviting the 1980, 1981, 1982 and 1983 graduates to a get-together on March 6 in Steubenville.

An informal dinner will be held at 6 p.m. at a local restaurant for graduates to meet with former classmates, to renew friendships and to share fun and interesting stories. To participate, graduates should call the college's alumni office at (740) 264-5591, extension 405 or (800) 68-COLLEGE.

Class of 1964 holding meeting

Catholic Central High School's Class of 1964 will hold a planning meeting concerning its upcoming 50-year reunion.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on March 18 at Lancelot's Restaurant in Wintersville.

Classmates will discuss the June 13 golf outing, June 13 get-together and June 14 dinner and dance. All events will be held at the Steubenville Country Club.

Senior center to hold bake sale

The Greater Weirton Senior Center will hold its next bake sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday.

Library to show comedy Feb. 28

The Brooke County Public Library will show "Last Vegas" at 1 p.m. Feb. 28.

The PG-13-rated comedy stars Michael Douglas, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman and Kevin Kline.

The Brooke County Public Library will offer help with resumes and online job applications at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Call (304) 737-1551 to register for the free assistance.

Lasagna dinner

at Jewett VFD

A lasagna dinner fundraiser will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March 9 at the Jewett Volunteer Fire Department. The menu includes salad, bread, dessert and beverage. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children.

Church to hold pancake supper

Christ Episcopal Church, at 1014 Main St., Wellsburg, will hold its Shrove Tuesday pancake supper from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. March 2. The cost is $5 for adults and youth 11 and up and $3 for children 10 and under.

Lodge meets

The Antonio Meucci Lodge 2506 met Feb. 11 at Undo's with President Regina Truax presiding.

Mary Rose Spano read the invocation, and Carl Truax led in opening ceremonies. Members had a buffet dinner.

Truax introduced new members Mary Ann Perko and John Spiotta.

The group also welcomed Joanna Shorac, Lola Starvaggi's guest, and James Akin, Walter Angeline's guest.

Rita Orler called roll and read the previous meeting's minutes. Linda Pfabe gave the financial and treasurer's reports.

Dominic Potts swore in the new officers and trustees.

Officers include Regina Truax, Tony LaRosa, Rita Orler, Carol Valenti, Linda Pfabe, Victor Rossi, Carl Truax, Boyd Barker and Mary Rose Spano. Trustees include Gabriel Arlia, Anthony Guglielmo, Nick Iannetti, Dominic Potts, Mena Potts and Mary Lou Rossi.

Dr. J.K. Luthra was the guest speaker, discussing the upcoming sixth-annual Festival of Nations which will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 15 at the Millsop Community Center in Weirton.

Luthra explained the event will feature ethnic performers on stage, ethnic foods for sale by various local organizations and displays on different cultures.

The Weirton Area Museum and Cultural Center is planning the event. Lodge members agreed to operate a booth selling Italian food and baked goods and beverages.

Club members signed cards and made donations to a local family that lost their home in a fire and a second family dealing with medical expenses.

Truax announced the lodge's annual picnic will be held in August at the Starvaggi Memorial Park. During the picnic, Italian cookbooks will be available for purchase.

December, January and February birthdays were acknowledged as were anniversaries.

Truax announced the following tours:

March 29, doo-wop concert at Wheeling's Capitol Theater;

April 23, Pure Gold at Rivers Casino, Pittsburgh; and

May 12-15, Bally's Casino, Atlantic City.
