Concert night Sunday at Brentwood UMC featuring Friends

A concert night featuring Friends will be held Sunday at Brentwood United Methodist Church, 148 Stephens St., Wintersville, beginning at 6 p.m.

Following the concert, there will be a time of fellowship and refreshments.

The group Friends has been ministering in music and "spreading the word of God through music for more than three decades," according to a promotional flyer.

"Over the years, some of the faces have changed, but the joy and enthusiasm for singing the gospel have not. It is the hope and prayer of everyone the Friends contemporary Christian singing group that their message in music reaches at least one person each time they minister," according to the flyer.

There is no charge, but a love offering will be taken.

The concert is open to the public.

St. Thomas Episcopal Church

to hold ham dinner on Friday

St. Thomas Episcopal Church on Three Springs Drive, Weirton, will hold a ham dinner from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday.

The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children for the meal, which includes ham, scalloped potatoes, green beans, applesauce, bread, butter and coffee. Dessert will be available for 50 cents and bottled water or pop for $1 each.

Christian artists to perform at Brooke Hills Free Methodist Church, Wellsburg

Compassion International has announced that the Morning Rises Tour featuring contemporary Christian recording artists Aaron Shust, Mikeschair, Johnny Diaz and Lauren Daigle will be in concert at Brooke Hills Free Methodist Church in Wellsburg on April 11 at 7 p.m.

Doors open at 6 p.m.

Tickets will be on sale at the church located on 1340 Washington Pike, Wellsburg, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Feb. 17-21 and Feb. 24-28.

Ticket prices are $20 and $40 for VIP, which includes seating in the center first four rows, VIP parking and a question-and-answer session with the bands at 5:30 p.m.

16th-annual women's retreat

scheduled for April 4-5

The 16th-annual All Denominations Christian Women's Retreat will be held at the Carlisle Inn in Sugarcreek April 4 and 5 and feature Kendra Smiley.

As a speaker, Smiley draws from her mosaic background as an educator, wife, mother and entrepreneur. Professionally honing her skills as a member of the Advanced Writers and Speakers Association, she connects with diverse audiences, according to a news release. Smiley reaches women as a speaker, host of the daily radio program "Live Life Intentionally," her television program or by way of her blog.

Registration will be held April 4 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and does not include dinner. The cost is $165 for one person in a room; $120 for two; $104 for three; and $94 for four.

For registration only and no room, the cost is $58. For either Friday night or Saturday morning only, it is $30. The price is for one night lodging, a continental breakfast on Saturday plus lunch.

A $50 deposit is due by Tuesday for all attendees. The balance is due by March 19. There will be no refunds after March 23.

Grace Lutheran Church to host

Lenten suppers starting March 12

Grace Lutheran Church located at 2105 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville, will be hosting light Lenten suppers of soup and sandwiches or salad before its Lenten services on Wednesday evenings beginning March 12 and continuing through April 9.

The supper times will be 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The services begin at 7 p.m. and are open to the public.

Baked steak dinner Wednesday

at Hill Top Fellowship Hall

There will be a baked steak dinner from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Hill Top Fellowship Hall located at the intersection of county Road 46 and state Route 213, Toronto.

The menu will be baked steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad bar, pie and hot and cold beverages. Donations will be accepted.

Tuesday breakfast for March 4

St. Thomas Episcopal Church will hold a Shrove Tuesday Breakfast from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 4 at the church located at Three Springs Drive and St. Thomas Drive, Weirton.

The meal includes unlimited French toast, scrambled eggs, sausage, toast, coffee and tea. The cost is $6 per person.

Pot luck luncheon scheduled

for women in their 40s, 50s

A pot luck luncheon for women in their 40s and 50s who grew up in Paris, Pa., will be held at 11:30 a.m. March 1 at the Paris Presbyterian Church's The Gathering Place Coffee Shop located on Steubenville Pike.

Sandwiches will be provided, and those attending are asked to bring a covered dish to share.
