Wildcats edge Creek

WINTERSVILLE - The Edison wrestling team won six of seven matches in a 37-31 victory over host Indian Creek on Wednesday. The teams now prepare for sectional wrestling Friday and Saturday.

The Wildcats only lost at 160 pounds from 138 to 195.

Earning falls for Edison were were Josh Kleiner (106), Laine Cade (152), Mike Millhorn (170) and Blaine Cline (182).

For Indian Creek, Dustin McAfee (120) won by fall and Seth Williams (160) by major decision.

Crusaders selling tickets

STEUBENVILLE - Tickets for Catholic Central's OVAC boys basketball championship game with Fort Frye at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ohio University-Eastern will be on sale from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday in the high school gym. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students.

Steubenville to hold sign-ups

STEUBENVILLE - The Steubenville Girls Softball League will hold registration for those ages 7-15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Feb. 22 and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 26 at the Steubenville High School commons area.

Cost is $40 for the first child and $20 for each additional children.

Toronto to hold sign-ups

TORONTO - The Toronto Girls Softball League will hold registration from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Feb. 26 and from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 22 and March 1 at the Roosevelt Recreation Center.

Cost is $50 for the first child, $30 for the second child and $20 for each additional child.

Spartans split two

The St. Joseph JV boys basketball team defeated St. Paul in Wheeling Parochial League action, 27-25, at the Dube Dome, behind Evan Boniti's 19 points. Angelo Quattrochi added four points for the Spartans. Connor Lennox had eight and Chris Noble seven points to lead St. Paul.

Against Bishop John King Mussio Gold, Boniti scored 15 points and Quattrochi added four for the Spartans in a 32-22 loss.

BJKM Gold was paced by Anthony Simmons with 18 points and Zac Berger who added six points.

Softball clinic to be held at Central

STEUBENVILLE - A softball coaches clinic will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the gym at Catholic Central High School. It will be run by Crusaders head coach Jim DiCarlo and Rick Sherman of the Road Runners. It is open to any softball coach, including recreational and high school.

BRILLIANT - The Brilliant Little League will hold registration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the next two Saturdays at the Wells Township Office. Cost is $44 for one child, $65 for two children and $5 for each additional child. It is open to players ages 4-18 (must be 4 by May 31) for T-Ball, softball and baseball.
