YORKVILLE - Esmark head James Bouchard has responded to a letter from two Eastern Ohio politicians in which he was asked to discuss for the his plans for the long-shuttered Yorkville mill.

"What I can tell you is that we continue to explore options for the Yorkville facility, including the sale of the assets to other parties, seeking strategic partners that would provide cost-competitive hot roll substrate necessary to re-start the plant," Bouchard said about the former Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. and Severstal facility.

"During the past year, we have had a number of parties tour the plant and look at equipment assets, and we continue to entertain offers in hopes economic conditions will improve and we can make a sound business decision on the future of the Yorkville mill," he said.

Bouchard's comments were in response to an inquiry from state Sen. Lou Gentile, D-Steubenville, and Jack Cera, D-Bellaire.
