I think Martin Luther King Jr. was a great leader because he helped African Americans to be treated like everyone else without using violence; he use his words. He sacrificed himself and his family's safety to speak out on civil rights. He also had a dream. His dream was to make everyone to be treated the same. He would not give up and he told African Americans to use their words, not violence. He led the civil rights movement be using his words to convince people to make a change. I believe with God on his side people listened to him. Many people followed his path and were inspired by his speeches. He fought for justice by using his brain instead of his fist. He shows me one regular person really can make a difference. I might not have the life I do today if it weren't for Martin Luther King Jr.'s leadership for civil rights. I wish Mr. King could be here today so he can see how many things have changed and see how we have an African-American president. I'm glad we celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. Day the third Monday every January so we can honor him and remember what he did for us.
