Post 33 party a success

February 2, 2014
The Herald-Star

To the editor:

American Legion Post 33 and its Auxiliary were happy to have their annual Christmas party for area disabled veterans from local nursing homes on Dec. 10.

We began with a prayer from Joe Holliday (first vice president), the Pledge of Allegiance from Mayor Domenick Mucci and "God Bless America" as sung by Jefferson County Commissioner Thomas Graham.

The event featured a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, and carols were sung by Howard and Susan Scivinsky. All of the men and women were given gifts.

We want to thank the members who donated to our worthy cause, including those who baked cookies. Thanks to the Herald-Star, Wheeler Funeral Home, Texas Road House, Riesbeck's and Wal-Mart.

We pray for and thank the men and women who paid the ultimate price to keep our country safe.
