WEIRTON - A city man was arrested Tuesday evening on drug charges.
James Timothy "Timmy" Noel, 35, of 433 Cove Road was charged with two counts of manufacturing marijuana and one count of intent to deliver.
According to reports, a member of the sheriff's department was serving a summons to Noel for drug-related charges out of Licking County, Ohio, and while at the Cove Road residence, the deputy reported the smell of marijuana and what he perceived as drug-related items.
The deputy requested assistance from the Weirton Police Department and the Hancock-Brooke-Weirton HIDTA Task Force.
"Weirton Police officers assisted the deputy in securing the residence to allow members of the task force to obtain the necessary search warrant," Hancock County Sheriff Ralph Fletcher stated, noting his gratitude for the cooperation between the multiple local agencies.
According to Fletcher, the search warrant was executed at approximately 7:15 p.m., with officers locating approximately 2 pounds of marijuana, as well as packing and distribution material, psilocybin mushrooms and equipment and materials allegedly for use in the production and growth of marijuana.
"Over a thousand dollars was also confiscated which was believed to be connected to the enterprise," Fletcher said.
Noel is being housed at the Northern Regional Jail.
Bond has not been set.
