TIMET retirees

to meet Tuesday

Retirees of TIMET in Toronto will have occasion to chat, reminisce and stay connected at the next get-together luncheon scheduled for Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at CJ's Restaurant on Sunset Boulevard, Steubenville.

It's open to all TIMET retirees.

Weirton Elks plan chili cook-off, pasta dinner

The Weirton Elks Lodge 1801 will hold their second chili cook-off and pasta dinner on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, at the lodge located on Main Street, Weirton.

The cook-off will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. Members or guests are invited to make their best chili and enter it into the cook-off. The cost to sample the chili and cast a vote for the winner is $4 for adults and $3 for children. Prizes will be awarded for the best chili.

The pasta dinner will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. It includes pasta, salad, bread, butter, dessert and tea or coffee. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children 10 and under. A ticket will be selected for a free dinner at next month's pasta Sunday.

Bethany awards

Nominees are being accepted for the Bethany College Alumnus of the Year Award.

The award was established by the president's office to recognize outstanding loyalty and accomplishment for the college by alumni who also have attained excellence throughout their careers and in their service to others.

Letters of nomination should detail the nominee's strengths and should be sent to: Office of the President, Bethany College, Old Main, Bethany, WV 26032.

The director of alumni and parent relations and president's cabinet will serve as the screening committee for the award. The president will choose the recipient.

The Bethany College Alumni Association also is accepting nominations for its annual alumni awards. Recipients are selected by the internal affairs committee of the Bethany College Alumni Council from nomination forms submitted by alumni and friends of Bethany.

They will be honored at a banquet during Alumni Weekend festivities, May 2-4. For award categories and a nomination form, visit www.bethanywv.edu/alumni/alumni-awards. Nominations should be submitted to the Office of Alumni & Parent Relations no later than Feb. 10.

Toronto Sunrise Seniors have

first meeting of new year

The Toronto Sunrise Seniors held their first meeting of the new year on Jan. 10 at the Roosevelt Center where Floyd Crawford, Donna Olsen, Cathy Samuel and Gloria Howard were welcomed as guests.

Reports were given by Secretary Mary Lou Deku and Treasurer Rex Mossor.

Members were reminded that the final payment for the May 2-5 Washington, D.C., trip will be due no later than March 3. Questions can be directed to John Bodrog (740) 537-1611.

Committees are forming for the Mother's Day-Father's Day dinner and the July picnic. Those interested in assisting can call President Tim Gribben at (740) 537-1069.

Phyllis Smith and Floyd Crawford were 50-50 winners. Door prize winners were Donna Twyford and Kitty Roth.

Members played bingo and scat following the business meeting. Bingo winners were Sandy Lesnick, Judy Price, Donna Olsen, Beth Clark, Edna Riffle, Donna Twyford, Marilyn Campbell, Mary Lou Deku, Nancy Bodrog, Scherry Sine, Tim Gribben, Dorothy Pavelka, Evelyn Woodland, Janet Blaschak, Floyd Crawford, Bette Ann Parker and Judy Sabol. Scat winners were Helen Lindsay, Edna Riffle, John Bodrog, Nancy Bodrog and Donna Twyford.

Anyone 55 years and older and a resident of Ohio are welcome to join. Meetings are held on the second and fourth Fridays of the month.
