Library program topics run gamut from cooking to UFOs

The following programs of the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County have been announced:

-- Babygarten (caregiver and children ages birth to 24 months) will be held at the Dillonvale-Mount Pleasant branch on Jan. 23 at 11:15 a.m.

-- Coffee, doughnuts and a movie will be offered at the Brilliant branch on Jan. 24 at 10 a.m.

-- Book discussion group for the Dillonvale-Mount Pleasant Branch will meet on Jan. 21 at 10 a.m. Register by calling the library branch at (740) 769-2090.

-- Taste and learn how to make three smoothies for nutritional healing at the Schiappa branch on Jan. 20 at 1 p.m. Susie Weiss of Young Living will blend everyday fruits and vegetables to lead your body to better health. Register by calling the library at (740) 264-6166.

-- Adults can make a bracelet on Jan. 21 at 5 p.m. at the Dillonvale-Mount Pleasant Branch. Register by calling the library at (740) 769-2090.

-- Do UFOs exist? Fred Saluga of West Virginia's MUFON organization will respond to this question and more that individuals may have about UFOs during a presentation at the Schiappa branch on Jan. 23 at 6:30 p.m. Register by calling the library branch at (740) 264-6166.

-- Watch a movie at the main library on Jan. 25 at 2:30 p.m.

-- Story Time (children ages 4-6) will be held on Jan. 20 and Jan. 27 at 5:30 p.m. at the Tiltonsville branch. Call (740) 859-5163 to register. It also will be held at the Brilliant branch on Jan. 21 and Jan. 28 at 5:30 p.m. Call the Brilliant branch at (740) 598-4028 to register.

-- Play and Learn the Alphabet (caregiver and children ages 2-6) offers letter-learning toys for an hour-long play session. It will be held at the main library on Jan. 20 at 11 a.m.; the Schiappa branch on Jan. 21 at 10:30 a.m. and at 6 p.m.; and at the Toronto branch on Jan. 21 at noon.

-- Cookbook club will be at the Tiltonsville branch on January 23 at 6 p.m. and at the Adena branch on Jan. 23 at 5 p.m. Participants bring in a covered dish from selected cookbooks. Join the Adena branch by calling (740) 546-3782 and the Tiltonsville branch at (740) 859-5163.

-- An advanced Internet class will be taught at the Schiappa branch on Jan. 22 at 1:30 p.m. and at 6 p.m. Register for one class by calling (740) 264-6166.

-- Gaming for teens will be held at the Schiappa branch on Jan. 22 at 5:30 p.m.
