Knights defeat Bishops

TORONTO - The Toronto girls basketball team evened its record at 6-6 with a 60-44 victory over visiting Bishop Donahue Monday evening.

The Red Knights took a 35-25 lead at the break after a 23-point second quarter and put the game away by outscoring the Bishops 18-7 during the final eight minutes.

Lexie Berger paced Toronto with a game-high 17 points, seven during the second period. Katie Spadafora added 11 points and Josey Jones 10, six during the second period, when seven Red Knights notched a bucket.

Toronto visits undefeated Bridgeport Thursday.

Harrison Central tops Ferry

MARTINS FERRY - Katie Ellzy led the Huskies with 14 points in Monday's 57-32 win over Martins Ferry.

Shianne Nameth and Kara Dunfee each added nine points and Alexis Yoho scored eight as Harrison Central improved to 9-4.

The Huskies knocked down seven 3-pointers, led by three from Dunfee.

Tyra King and Morgan Stalder led Ferry (3-9) with 12 points each.

The Huskies play at Edison on Thursday, while the Purple Riders travel to Indian Creek.

Patriots handle Brooke

WELLSBURG - Angela Staffileno was limited to three field goals, but finished with 15 points in Brooke's 60-45 loss against Wheeling Park at home on Monday night.

Paige Farmer added 11 points for the Bruins (2-7), while Michaela Hinerman and Christa D'Ulisse each scored six points.

Wheeling Park (5-7) was led by Kendra Johnson, who knocked down four 3-pointers. She finished with a game-high 21 points.

Park led only by four (22-18) at halftime.

Brooke plays at Linsly on Wednesday.

ST. CLAIRSVILLE - The Edison girls basketball team fell to St. Clairsville, 56-26, on Monday.

Abby Fonow led the Wildcats with seven points, while Kayli Stewart added six.

For St. Clairsville, Anna DeFilippo led with 19 points and Carless Gillespie scored 15.

Indian Creek hosts St. Clairsville on Wednesday, while Edison hosts Harrison Central on Thursday.

Linsly stops Madonna

WHEELING - The Linsly girls basketball team jumped on visiting Madonna, 22-5, in the first quarter and cruised to a 62-31 victory on Monday.

Katie Lammers scored 10 and Leanne Grubbs and Monica Bragg each added seven for the Blue Dons (6-5), who visits Weir High on Thursday for the city championship.

Linsly improved o 10-1 on the year.
