Pie baking, eating contest is seeking contestants

January 9, 2014
The Herald-Star

The Brooke County Public Library will be celebrating National Pie Day with a pie baking contest, pie eating contest for children and a pie walk at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 23.

Avid bakers may enter their favorite fruit, cream or other type of pie. All pies must be homemade. Each contestant is required to bring two pies: one for judging and sampling and one for the pie walk.

Registration forms can be picked up at the Brooke County Library or its Follansbee branch. Pies must be dropped off at the Brooke County Library by 2 p.m. Jan. 23.

Children, preschool age to age 12, may compete in the pie eating contest and should register by calling (304) 737-1551 by Jan. 21.

All are invited to try their luck in the pie walk. Participants will walk to music, and if they land on a lucky spot, "take home a delicious pie."
