BRILLIANT - Wells Township Trustee Joe Ellis recently presented plaques to Trustees John Cook and Larry Owens to commemorate their services to the township.
Ellis also said many decisions were hard to make and not always popular and that he appreciated the work of Cook and Owens.
Owens, who noted his four-year term is almost complete, thanked all employees for their efforts. He added he believes accomplishments were achieved during the last four years, but much remains to be done. Owens wished the best to John Goosman and Brian Harvey, incoming trustees.
Cook expressed appreciation to Police Chief John Ingram and Road Superintendent John Keyoski for keeping their departments under budget in the face of deregulation cuts.
In other matters, Keyoski again noted that lines on Riddles Run Road were painted not long ago but were faded because of the weather and coal truck traffic.
Motions to increase appropriations in the road and bridge funds were approved, and both are related to winter weather.
Owens reported Columbia Gas has notified trustees the company will replace gas lines and meters, north of the United Methodist Church, in 2014.
A motion was approved to pay bills totaling $59,566.11.
The reorganizational meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 3.
