Jefferson County Joint Vocational School senior culinary arts students Alexis Hollen, left, and Isabella White participated in the Great American Chef Cook Off on Nov. 23 at the Pittsburgh Technical Institute. The competitors were awarded second place and earned $6,000 in scholarship prizes for their efforts. The two prepared, in under an hour, two entree plates that included baked chicken roulade with spinach and bacon, mushroom pan sauce, basil and parmesan risotto, and broccoli stem, carrot, and onion juliennes tossed in lemon-apple cider vinaigrette. -- Contributed
