Toronto races past Bellaire St. John

BELLAIRE - Blaze Glenn scored 17 points as the Toronto boys basketball team downed St. John 62-38 on Monday.

Nate Stewart added 11 points as Hank Clegg and Blaine Rawson scored eight each. Riley Kiersey chipped in with six points.

The Red Knights (4-3) led 22-17 at halftime, despite being outscored 12-9 in the second quarter. They added 40 second half points, while limiting the Irish (1-4) to just 21 points.

Toronto hosts Cameron on Jan. 3.

Southern roughs up Edison

SALINEVILLE - Austin Hyndman led Edison with 10 points, but the Wildcats fell to Southern, 68-40 on Monday night.

Erik Lee and Austin Horan each added nine points for Edison (2-5).

The game was tied 14-14 after the first quarter and the Indians (4-3) led 28-22 at halftime before outscoring the Wildcats 24-8 in the third quarter.

Troy Holden and Tim Thrasher led Southern, scoring 16 points each.

The Wildcats play host to Indian Creek on Friday.

Harrison Central girls knock off Golden Bears

CADIZ - Shianne Nameth led Harrison Central with a career-high 20 points as it grabbed a 62-60 win over Oak Glen on Monday.

Jesse Ledger added 13 points and Katie Ellzy chipped in with 12 for Harrison Central (6-3).

Oak Glen held the rebounding advantage, 25-22. Vanessa Hissam pulled down eight for the Golden Bears (3-2). Hissam led Oak Glen with 14 points and Jessica Stivason added 12.

Kara Dunfee had six assists for the Huskies, along with seven points.

Harrison Central plays at Union Local on Jan. 3, while Oak Glen hosts Beaver Local on Saturday.
