John 'Goose' Taylor

TAYLOR, John T. "Goose," 68, of Steubenville died Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at home.

He was born May 11, 1945, in Steubenville. He is the son of the late Albert and Margaret Taylor.

John is also preceded in death by his two infant sons, Jason and Scott; sisters, Patricia Isaac and Joyce Smith.

John was a Catholic, retired from Wheeling- Pittsburgh Steel, and graduated from Catholic Central High School class of 1963.

Surviving are one son, Eric Taylor and one daughter, Kim Taylor, both of Steubenville; three sisters, Judy McClain of Follansbee, Mary Elisabeth "Bessie" (Robert) Westlake of Columbus, and Kathryn Taylor of Steubenville; two grandchildren, Ashlee and Joshua; and his canine companions, Sam and Pepper. Also many nephews and nieces.

John was very active in youth baseball in Steubenville, having coached Little League and Babe Ruth baseball for many years, John never knew a stranger and never forgot a name and face. He always made people feel good about themselves. John spent every morning at the Spot Bar having coffee with his friends.

His grandchildren were his life, they were his world as he was theirs.

Calling hours are Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Mosti Funeral Home, Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd.

A Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church, with Msgr. Gerald Calovini, celebrant. Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. There will be a vigil service at 3:45 p.m.
