Brother held in fatal shooting

AVELLA - An Avella man was taken into custody by the Pennsylvania State Police Saturday after allegedly shooting and killing his brother, who was visiting from Colliers.

Washington County Coroner Tim Warco stated 48-year-old Richard Bauduin died of a shotgun blast to the head at the Bethel Ridge Road home of his father, 75-year-old Richard Bauduin Sr., and the suspect, 46-year-old Robert J. Bauduin.

The father of the men told police he was cooking a meal in the kitchen shortly before 7 p.m. when he heard his sons arguing before the gunshot.

The two brothers were involved in a verbal confrontation that turned physical, resulting in the shooting, according to the state police.

Family members said the brothers often argued and Richard - the shooting victim - often mediated disputes between his father and the brother accused of shooting him.

Robert J. Bauduin was taken into custody by the state police at the scene, arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Valarie Costanzo and placed in the Washington County Jail.

Online court records don't list an attorney for Robert J. Bauduin, who faces a preliminary hearing Wednesday on a charge of criminal homicide.

The Washington Barracks of the state police is the investigating agency.
