From staff reports , The Herald-Star

STEUBENVILLE - Jessica Ewell, the Franciscan University of Steubenville sacred music professor, will present Scenes of Seeking and Finding: Experiencing Christian Hope Through the Music of Advent.

The free concert shows how to live in the hope of Christ's incarnation and combines well-beloved Advent music with short reflections from Pope Francis' encyclical Lumen Fidei and Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI's encyclical Spe Salvi.

The concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Tony and Nina Gentile Gallery, J.C. Williams Center, on the university campus.

Ewell is a soprano who has performed as a soloist with several orchestras. In 2001, she sang at a private audience for Pope John Paul II.

She will perform with Joseph McCanna, a composer and improviser who has performed professionally as a pianist, organist and conductor for 20 years. The two collaborated on Ewell's 2011 album, "Christmas Presence."

The concert is co-sponsored by Franciscan University of Steubenville's Department of Fine Arts and Franciscan University Students for Life, who will take up a free-will collection for Image Clear Ultrasound Mobile, operated by the Akron-based Pregnancy Solutions and Services. The organization provides free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds and counseling to women in need.
