Conotton Valley tops Red Knights

TORONTO - Conotton Valley christened Toronto's new gym with a win Friday night as the Ohio high school girls basketball season opened.

The Rockets trailed 20-19 at the half, but rode the 15-point second-half performance of standout Olivia Bower for a 45-35 victory. Bower finished with a game-high 21 points. Teammate Piper Edie followed with nine points, all from beyond the arc. The Rockets outscored the hosts 14-4 in the third period.

Conotton Valley is the defending Ohio Valley Athletic Conference Class 1A champions.
