Pawn shop thief sought

FOLLANSBEE - City Police are investigating the theft of the Follansbee Pawn Shop on Wednesday.

Police are seeking information about a man seen in footage from a video camera breaking into the store, smashing a display case there and taking four handguns. The guns were two Rugers, a Jennings and a Beretta Storm, said City Police Chief John Schwertfeger.

The man was described as tall and wearing a light colored jacket with what appears to be a gray hooded sweatshirt underneath.

Road work announced

The West Virginia Division of Highways has announced road work to be performed next week, pending suitable weather.

The center east- and westbound lanes of U.S. Route 22 near the Colliers Way Bridge have been closed while crews work on the span's replacement. Crews are set to drive steel pilings and pour concrete footers for the new abutments.

Also in Brooke County, crews will be patching McCord's Hill Road and repairing Tent Church Road.

In Hancock County, crews will be patching Moores Lane and Dale and Doris lanes and ditching along North Fork and Hudson Hill roads.

Scrabble session set for Wednesday

STEUBENVILLE - Area Scrabble enthusiasts will gather Wednesday for their monthly game session in room 1502 at Eastern Gateway Community College.

Play time will run from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. with newcomers welcome and encouraged to bring the board game if they have one. No fees are charged.

Bonus words will be words related to Thanksgiving.

Harrison hospital plans breakfast

CADIZ - The annual Christmas Leadership Breakfast will be sponsored for the 22nd time by the Harrison Community Hospital at 7:30 a.m. Dec. 6 at the hospital cafeteria.

A donation of $5 is requested per person and proceeds will be used to purchase Christmas gifts for Harrison County children who would might not have a merry Christmas otherwise.

Farm Bureau to hold Christmas luncheon

WINTERSVILLE - The Jefferson County Farm Bureau promotion and education committee is holding its annual Christmas luncheon at noon Dec. 3 at the Farm Bureau office gymnasium, former Bantam Ridge Elementary School.

A gift exchange of $15 maximum will be held for those who wish to participate. This is for Farm Bureau member ladies.
