FREEPORT - The Ohio Department of Natural Resources investigated a reported gas leak at Atchinson's Creek.

According to Mark Bruce, spokesperson for ODNR, one minor gas leak from a decades-old vertical domestic well was reported. He said he believes the line ran to one home, and Tipka Energy Development offered to pay for the family's stay elsewhere while the well was drowned with salt water and plugged.

He said the incident did not involve commercial wells and ODNR approved the plugging plan.

Bruce added there was no official evacuation order.

ODNR will inspect the well afterward.

No threat to public health was found.
