Mingo council has two new faces

MINGO JUNCTION - The village has two new councilman at large, according to unofficial tallies from the Jefferson County Board of Elections after Tuesday's election.

Four candidates originally were slated to run for two council at large seats. However, John "Wiz" Fabian, who was on Tuesday's ballot, was named mayor last week after the resignation of Mayor Ron DiCarlo, leaving three candidates vying for two seats.

George Irvin Jr., 29, of 310 Logan Ave. received 436 votes, or 26.75 percent of the vote, while Adam Peeler, 35, of 307 Carlisle Ave., received 635 votes, or 38.96 percent of the vote, according to unofficial tallies. Andy Strohmeyer, 24, of 506 Logan Ave. received 149 votes or 9.14 percent. Fabian also earned 410 votes, or 25.15 percent of the vote despite being named mayor,.

Peeler thanked the citizens of Mingo while also promising to do what he can on council to serve the public.

"I want to thank (the public) for its support," said Peeler, adding he looks forward to serving the citizens of Mingo. "I hope to help provide the level of services they expect."
