STEUBENVILLE - Six members of the Lady Baron tennis team were named first team all-conference in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference. Franciscan, which finished as the conference runner-up, took first team all-conference in two of the six singles spots and two of the three doubles spots.

"With almost an entirely new team made up of freshmen, I was continually impressed with the heart and dedication the girls brought to each practice," head coach Jenna Lynch said. "The all-conference titles are simply proof of the commitment they displayed on the court throughout the season."

Two freshmen, Allison Jenson and Erin Coyne, earned first-team all-conference respectively in no. 5 and no. 6 singles. Jenson (6-0) and Coyne (8-0) ended the season undefeated in conference play and won crucial matches during the conference semi-finals to complete the Lady Barons 5-2 comeback over Mount Aloysius College.

"Alli had several close matches in conference play and her undefeated record did not come easily.

"She remained undefeated and received first team all-conference because she is a mature player," Lynch said.

The first team all-conference honors for no. 2 doubles went to two more FUS freshman. Ashley Veazy and Claire Haddad went 7-1 during conference play and avenged their one loss with an 8-2 victory over Mount Aloysius in the AMCC playoffs.

The combination of Veazy's power and Haddad's consistency also resulted in one of the team's two points in their 5-2 loss to Penn St. Behrend in the conference finals with an 8-2 win in no. 2 doubles.

The pair went 5-0 in conference play and gave Neugebauer, the first four-year player in program history, her first all-conference honors.
