Day of caring brought area together

October 27, 2013
The Herald-Star

To the editor:

Neighbor helping Neighbor, a true reflection of our community, was everywhere on Sept. 26 during the United Way of Jefferson County's Day of Caring.

Projects were conducted from Bergholz to Smithfield, from Amsterdam to Steubenville. The business partners in the county included Apollo Pro Cleaning & Restoration, Steubenville Wal-Mart, First Energy Sammis Plant, Eastern Gateway Community College, DPH Pins, Trinity Health System, Steubenville Rotary Club and the AEP Cardinal Plant. Together, they pulled weeds, painted, power washed, handed out food, spread mulch and cleaned gutters.

This year included something new, uniting 25 high school students from the EGCC Trio Program and Steubenville High School Key Club to work together on a painting project.

Everyone worked together and made a difference because of the supporting sponsors - WesBanco, AEP-Cardinal Plant, Hauser Furniture, Tri-State Security, Valley Converting, Sherwin-Williams, Steubenville Wal-Mart and B&B Screen Printing.

We're living united in Jefferson County - together, everyone achieves more.
