George F. Drane

DRANE, George F., 74, of Weirton, passed away Monday, October 14, 2013, in the Weirton Medical Center.

Born November 11, 1938, in Berea, WV, he was a son of the late General Holden and Lela Mae (Husk) Drane.

With 35 years of service, George retired from the Weirton Steel Sheet Mill. During the Vietnam War, George served his country with the United States Army.

In his free time, George enjoyed deer hunting, crossword puzzles or just solving the world's problems over a cup of coffee with his buddies at State Line Restaurant.

He was a member of the Auburn United Methodist Church in Ritchie County WV and the Weirton Steel 25-Year Club.

Mr. Drane is survived by his wife, Joyce (Payne) Drane; daughter, Regina K. Costain and her boyfriend, David McGraw; grandson, Tanner Costain and his fiancee, Angelica Bryson all of Weirton; brother, Ancil D. Drane and his wife, Betty and sister, Barbara Jean Davis and her husband, Neil all of Belmont, WV; mother-in-law, Mary Redish; brother-in-law, George Payne and his wife, Diane of Weirton, and several nieces and nephews Visitation will be held Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV, where funeral services will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday. Rev. Fr. Frank Milanese will preside.

Interment will follow in Saint Nicholas Russian Orthodox Cemetery, Weirton where Military Services will be conducted by the American Legion Honor Guard.
