CADIZ - It is OctoberFest time in the village again, and the local Lions Club is organizing a weekend of food and fun, according to organizers.
The event is set Oct. 5-6 at Sally Buffalo Park, and visitors and campers can begin each day with the famous Lions Club pancake breakfast. Beginning at 7:30 a.m. and going until 11 a.m., Lion members will serve orange juice, coffee, pancakes and sausage for a donation at Wallace Lodge.
Local crafters will be on hand each day until 3 p.m., organizers noted.
Visitors on Oct. 5 can hear music by local performers Danny Skinner and Dusty Carpenter, also know as the Valley Boyz or check out the antique and custom car show. Judging begins at 1 p.m. with awards at 3 p.m. Awards will be given to the oldest car, furthest driven, People's choice and judges' choice.
Also, the ADA competition dancers group is sponsoring a cornhole tournament at 1 p.m., as well as a hole-in-one bucket event.
Events on Oct. 6 will include the sixth-annual Lucas D. Sedgmer Memorial Scholarship Fund 5K Run/Walk, as well as a 100-yard kids dash at 12:30 p.m. Registration will take place from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Prizes will be given to the top three women and men in seven age group categories.
