Three arrested in burglary case

STEUBENVILLE - Three people were arrested early today in connection with a burglary and theft of a television in the 200 block of Cunningham Lane, City Police reported.

A resident on Cunningham Lane told officers he was arriving home around 1:30 a.m. today when he saw three men running at him. Police reported the resident ran inside the house, with the three men banging on the door. The men then left in a car, police reported.

The resident then noticed the house was broken into and a large-screen television was missing, police reported.

A county sheriff's deputy stopped a car on McConnell Avenue matching the description that was at the house.

Three men inside the car were charged by police in the case: Jonathan White, 19, of 2722 Cleveland Ave., burglary; Robert Smith, 23, 2117 Estelle Ave., burglary; and Caine M. Brown, 19, Pittsburgh, complicity to burglary and obstructing official business.

Officers went to White's residence and found the stolen television up against the outside of the house, police reported.

Slip repair projectbegins near Jewett

JEWETT - Work is getting under way this week to repair a landslide along state Route 9/state Route 151 near Vale Road, just west of Jewett, the Ohio Department of Transportation reported.

Traffic is currently being maintained with flaggers; however, it will be reduced to one, 12-foot lane with traffic signals in the next two weeks, ODOT reported.

ODOT's contractor for this $957,885 project is BBR Drilling Co. Inc. of Belmont.

All work will be completed by June, but ODOT officials expect the road to be reopened to two-way traffic this year.
