Wellsburg road to be closed
WELLSBURG - Petit Heights Road will be closed during the next two weeks while crews widen it.
The West Virginia Division of Highways has announced the road will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning Monday. The work is expected to be completed at 5 p.m. Sept. 25.
There are no alternate routes.
Hydrant testing set to start Monday
STEUBENVILLE - The city fire department will be conducting a fire hydrant testing, inspection and flow program in the LaBelle neighborhood starting Monday.
According to Fire Chief Carlo Capaldi the testing and inspection will be conducted from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
"We anticipate completing the testing by Friday afternoon," said Capaldi.
Capaldi said the LaBelle neighborhood from Franklin Avenue and University Boulevard to Washington Street and from Brady Avenue to Belleview Boulevard.
"In the areas where hydrants are being tested water users may experience reduced water pressure and a slight discoloration in their water. Residents in the affected area should refrain from washing clothes during the testing time period. Saline Township Road to be closed
HAMMONDSVILLE - Dry Run Road (township Road 306) will be closed from 7 a.m. Monday until 4 p.m. on Tuesday for a culvert replacement, according to Saline Township officials.
County engineer issues work schedule
STEUBENVILLE - Jefferson County Engineer James Branagan released the work schedule for next week for the highway department:
Tree trimming - JFK Highway (county Road 47).
Ditching - Mount Pleasant-Adena Road (county Road 6); and Glen Robbins-Mount Pleasant-Rayland Road (county Road 1).
A bridge on Unionport Road (county Road 39) will be closed from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday for soil sampling. The bridge is located 3 miles north of county Road 22A and 4 miles south of state Route 646. There will be no through traffic.
Warren Ridge-Smithfield-Rayland Road (county Road 15) will be closed about 0.75 mile north of state Route 150 from 8 a.m. Tuesday through 4 p.m. Sept. 24. There will be no through traffic.
