The Blackmoor Ladies Golf League played a low gross event on Sept. 9.

The winner was Lori Defallo.

Tammy Cox took low putts for the day.

Lucky "Lucy" Karran had closest to the pin on hole No. 10.

Denise Augustine had long drive on hole No. 16.

Karran had a hole-in-one on hole No. 12.


On Sept. 11, play of the day was Net of the Field for the Cadiz Women's Golf Association. The winner was Nep Rowland. Least putts was won by Peg Buchanan. Nancy Beckert was hostess.

Chairman Marlene Holloway held a meeting following golf to plan the final day activities on Sept. 25. Tee-off time for a scramble will be 1 p.m., followed by a social hour at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m. Yearly prizes will be awarded.

A sign-up sheet is posted in the ladies locker room.

Joann Watson will be the hostess on Sept. 18, when tee-off time will be at 9 a.m.

Theresa Stotler was the hostess on Sept. 4 when the Cadiz Women's Golf Association played "Woulda, Shoulda, Coulda" where players throw out one hole on each nine. The holes thrown out must be chosen prior to tee-off.

Theresa Stotler was the winner in the first flight, and Joann Watson was the winner in the second flight.

Putts of the field were won by Nep Rowland and Watson. Stotler had a birdie on hole No. 2, and Watson had a chip-in on hole No. 12.

The hostess for Sept. 11 play was Nancy Beckert.


Spring Hills Ladies played the last game of the regular season on Sept. 5 with a game of blind partners.

The winning teams with a score of 97 included the team of Lori Szymanek and Tammy Cox and the team of Ruth Lamantia and Patty Gerlando.

There also was a tie for second with a score of 98 between the team of Linda Caputo and Dru Fleishour and the team of Vickie Grant and LeeAnn Grimes.

Long drive winners were: A flight, Dru Fleishour; B flight, Ann Eroshevich; and C flight, Judy Sorrenti.

Closest to the pin: A flight, no winner; B flight, Linda Caputo; C flight, Eleanor Kindsvatter.

Low putts: Four players with 16 putts - Eleanor Kindsvatter, Susan Mazzacco, Jay Risner and Erin Mader.

The 50/50 winner was Lee Ann Grimes.

Following play, Ann Eroshovich, president, conducted a brief meeting with discussions held on the invitational for 2014, Play Day away and the banquet on Sept. 26 at Zalenski's beginning at 6 p.m.

The nomination committee reported the officers will remain the same for the 2014 golf season with the exception that Lori Szymanek will assist Claudia Norris with some of the treasurer duties.

Eroshevich will continue as president; vice president is Tammy Cox, and Eleanor Kindsvatter is secretary.


The Town and Country Women Golf League members played their "Part 1 of 18 Holes Tournament" on Sept. 5 at Spring Hills Golf Course.

The winners were:

Low Gross: A flight, Laura Froehlich; B, Kathy Antinone and Patty Saccoccia; C, Sondra Hyde.

Low Net: A flight, Lillian Kestner; B, Jane Myers; C, Nancy Lellie.

Closest to the Pin on No. 4: A flight, Wanda Retzer; B, Edie Higgins; C, Irene Vaja.

Longest drive No. 3: A flight, Lucy Karaan; B, Antinone; C, Betty Teaff.

Longest drive No. 6: A flight, Retzer; B, Pat Zorne; C, Helen D'Andrea.

Saccoccia and Hyde had the lowest putts. Karaan had a birdie on No. 9. Part two of the 18 holes tournament was to have been held Sept. 12.


The William's Ladies Golf Association held a "Low Gross & Low Net" event and shared the Ladies Day with the Oglebay Crispin Ladies 18-Hole League from the Wheeling area.

Jason Smoljanovich, assistant pro, figured and announced the winners for the day, with Flight One "Low Gross" going to Priscilla Mavrich with a score of 87, and Sue Sakara taking "Low Net" with a 76.

Flight Two "Low Gross" went to Alicia Myers with a score of 110 and Vi Stein taking "Low Net" with an 82.

Flight Three "Low Gross" winner was Maureen Dumbaugh with a score of 114 and Kay Mascio taking "Low Net" with an 80.

The skill prize for the members was longest putt on hole No. 9 and was taken by Jerry Chambers and on hole No. 18 was Rita Kohn.

Guest longest putt on hole No. 9 was taken by Janis Cook and on hole No. 18 by Angie Sapon.

Following play, the women met in the Grill Room for lunch.

President Linda Staffalino thanked the guests for attending and awarded special gifts to the winners.

Chris Muroski, president of the Crispin Ladies Group, thanked the ladies of Williams for a special golf day.

This week's play will be a field day, and players can invite a guest for a day of golf and luncheon. All are asked to call the pro shop to list their guests prior to play for scheduling.
