STEUBENVILLE - Paving work on a portion of John Scott Highway has been completed and the roadway from Sinclair Avenue to Lauretta Drive will re-open to traffic Tuesday.
The remaining part of John Scott Highway from Loretta Drive to Mall Drive will remain closed for approximately 60 additional days.
City Engineer Michael Dolak said the next phase of construction work on the highway will include culvert replacement, ditch line relocation, resurfacing with an asphalt overlay, installation of long life pavement markings, the replacement of guard rail and the upgrading of traffic signals. The work will also include improving the intersection of John Scott Highway and Mall Drive.
Dolak said paving is also scheduled to start Tuesday morning on Scenic Drive.
"Weather permitting we will continue the paving work during the next several days on Westwood Drive, Fellows Drive and Cunningham Lane," noted Dolak.
Shelly & Sands Incorporated of Rayland is responsible for both paving projects.
