'Band Benefit for Washington' Friday
The Buckeye Local High School Band Boosters are organizing a "Band Benefit for Washington" classic car cruise-in for Friday to help raise money to send the band to perform in the 2014 National Veterans Memorial Day parade in Washington, D.C., set for May 26.
The BLHS Band was nominated by U.S. Rep. Bill Johnson, R-Marietta, to represent Ohio in the event.
The boosters are having the classic car cruise in addition to other fundraisers to help make the trip a reality.
The classic car cruise Friday will be held from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at South Elementary in Tiltonsville. The first 50 cars will receive dash plaques. The cost is $3 to register. All cars and bikes are welcome.
The event will include music by disc jockey Spike Man, food, drinks, snacks and a 50-50 drawing in addition to other drawings.
"We have a goal of $67,000 (for travel and lodging) and approximately 110 band members to send. We are very excited about this. It's an honor," said Tammy Capalingo, vice president of the BLHS Band Boosters.
Donations can be be sent to: Buckeye Local Panther Band Boosters, c/o Buckeye Local High School, 10692 Ohio 150, Rayland, OH 43943
