Scrabble session set for Wednesday

STEUBENVILLE - Area Scrabble enthusiasts will gather Wednesday for their monthly game session in room 1504 at Eastern Gateway Community College.

Play time will run from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., with newcomers welcome and encouraged to bring the board game if they have one. No fees are charged.

Bonus words will be words related to Labor Day.

Relay wrapup picnic Tuesday

STEUBENVILLE - Team captains, members and volunteers who participated in the 2013 Steubenville Area Relay for Life sponsored by the Jefferson County Unit of the American Cancer Society are invited to attend a relay wrapup picnic set for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Jim Wood Park.

Picnic food will be provided, but those attending are welcome to bring side dishes.

Lights of Hope bags will be available for a donation that cancer advocate Barb Wilinski will be taking with her to National Lobby Day in Washington, D.C.

UMWA Local 7690 to meet Sept. 3

CADIZ - The United Mine Workers Local 7690 will meet at 9 a.m. on Sept. 3 in the Harrison Community Hospital cafeteria.

McKinley to conduct townhall meeting

BETHANY - U.S. Rep. David B. McKinley, R-Wheeling, will conduct a townhall meeting on Sept. 3 at Bethany Memorial Church.

Doors open at 6 p.m., and the townhall meeting beginning at 6:30 p.m.

McKinley plans to update residents on activities taking place in Congress before taking questions from those in attendance.

The event will be open to the public.
