Three held after alleged assault

STEUBENVILLE - Three people were taken into custody today after a man was allegedly assaulted with a kitchen knife in the 1400 block of Oak Grove Avenue.

The victim told police the disagreement stemmed from a dispute over his cell phone. He said he'd allowed a woman to use his phone and when she refused to return it, someone else had slashed his finger with the knife.

Robert Simmons, 62, 765 N. Eighth St., was charged with felonious assault in connection with the incident, police reported.

Also arrested were Juliette Harton, 49, of 1423 Oak Grove, on two active bench warrants, and Margo Creech, 53, 1324 Wellesley Ave., also on an active bench warrant.

Indian Creek Athletic Booster Club to meet

WINTERSVILLE - The Indian Creek Athletic Booster Club will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Indian Creek High School cafeteria.

Solid waste board moves meeting

FOLLANSBEE - The Brooke County Solid Waste Authority will meet at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 20 at its office at 231 Rockdale Road.

The meeting was rescheduled from Aug. 6 due to a lack of a quorum.
