WINTERSVILLE - The Jefferson Soil and Water Conservation District's board of supervisors will hold their annual election on Oct. 21 to elect two members.
Interested candidates wishing to place their names on the ballot may petition to be a supervisor candidate by obtaining at least 10 valid signatures on the SWCD candidate nomination petition form. This form is available from the district office, 587 Bantam Ridge Road, or by calling (740) 264-9790.
The board of supervisors has the responsibility to develop and implement all short- and long-term goals for the Soil and Water Conservation District. Members of the board are public officials responsible to other people of the district and state. They employ and guide the staff of the district on work load priorities, manage the district financial funds and are a source of feedback from the public on its needs for land and water assistance, according to officials. The position is voluntary.
The nominating committee will meet and select a slate of candidates.
