Soccer referee clinic scheduled
STEUBENVILLE - The Jefferson County Soccer Officials Association will offer a 25-hour course at Eastern Gateway Community College to license adults as high school soccer officials. Applicants must be 18 years of age and be a high school graduate or have a GED. Current Grade 8 USSF soccer officials need only take 10 of the 25 hours.
The course begins July 27, will be held on three Saturdays and includes an exam and five hours field training. The course is regulated by the Ohio High School Athletic Association. The season begins Aug. 17 and the licensee will be able to referee games immediately.

Big Red parents meeting to be held
STEUBENVILLE - A Steubenville Big Red football/cheerleader parents meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. July 21 at the side door of Harding School. Freshman parents are invited to come and learn about the coming games and projects.
Big Red boosters to meet
STEUBENVILLE - The Big Red Boosters Club will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at the high school conference room. Tickets are available for The Booster Appreciation Banquet July 28 at West Elementary.
Contact the high school or booster members until Monday to get a $10 donation banquet ticket. All are invited as we kick off the coming football season.
Youth football clinic to be held
WHEELING - The Ohio Valley Athletic Conference will host its ninth-annual free youth football clinic in conjunction with the Rudy Mumley OVAC All-Star Charity Football Classic. The clinic will take place July 28 at the Wheeling Island Stadium.
Registration will take place from noon to 12:45 p.m. The clinic will be held from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and will be directed by OVAC football coaches, including members of coach Chris Daugherty's Wheeling Park High School football staff. The instructors will teach the basic fundamentals of football with a focus on building self-esteem.
The clinic is free and open to boys and girls ages 6-13.
Parents or legal guardians are required to have insurance and be present the day of the clinic to sign a waiver form.
