WINTERSVILLE - A Toronto teen was killed late Monday evening when the car he was driving went off township Road 242, over a high wall and into a strip pond and became submerged, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported.

Trevor S. Bozman, 16, of 211 East Road, Toronto, was driving along township Road 242 at an unsafe speed around 11 p.m. Monday when the car went off the side of the road, over the high wall and into the pond, the patrol reported.

The car overturned when it went over the high wall and landed on its roof in the pond, a trooper reported.

The high wall is about 75 feet high. The water in the pond was about 10 to 14 feet deep. The patrol reported divers were called to the scene, and it took about three hours to get the car out of the pond.

The accident remains under investigation.
