Animal advocacy protest in Weirton

July 13, 2013
The Herald-Star
Representatives of Mercy for Animals, an animal advocacy group, were near the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Weirton Friday protesting alleged acts of animal cruelty by one of the company’s pork suppliers. The organization has alleged the pork supplier, Chistensen Farms, confines pigs in small crates, and is asking Wal-Mart to phase out the practice with all of its pork suppliers. Officials from Wal-Mart were not immediately available for comment. — Craig Howell
