Karaoke fun night Friday at E.S. center

Another "karaoke fun night" is on the calendar at the East Springfield Community Center located on county Road 39 next to the East Springfield Volunteer Fire Department.

It will be held from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday with disc jockey Chelsea Matta.

Admission is $2 with children age 10 and under admitted for free. All ages are welcome to participate. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

Rotary programs have Cadiz theme

The Steubenville Rotary Club, which meets at noon on Fridays for a luncheon and business meeting at the YWCA, has announced the lineup of speakers for July.

The Rev. Ashley Steele, executive director of Urban Mission Ministries in Steubenville, is program chair of the month with topics to follow the theme "Cadiz ... Past, Present and Future."

On Friday, Nan Mattern, president of the Clark Gable Society, will discuss that native son who went on to movie stardom.

Sandi Thompson from the Harrison County Coal Museum located in the Puskarich Public Library will discuss this early local industry at the July 19 meeting.

Representatives from MarkWest will share with Rotarians their plans to be involved in Cadiz and the surrounding area at the July 26 meeting.

Post 275 to meet Saturday at marina

AMVETS Post 275 will meet at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Steubenville Marina.

"We will replace the marina flag and have the first meeting of our new year. All area veterans are welcome to attend," said Dan Wilson, post commander.

Brooke Senior Center picnic July 18

The Brooke County Senior Center's annual picnic will be held at 10 a.m. July 18 at Brooke Hills Park in Wellsburg.

In addition to lots of food, there will be live entertainment, bingo, a balloon release, prizes and other fun.

Transportation is available, and arrangements should be be made no later than July 16 by calling (304) 527-3410.

Weirton Farmers Market on Mondays

The Weirton Farmers Market will continue at 3 p.m. Monday in the Goodwill parking lot, located at 306-308 Penco Road, Weirton, across from the Shop 'n Save plaza.

The market will be available each Monday through October.

Vendors provide locally grown and baked goods. Produce is picked fresh - often on Monday morning just before the market opens. All goods are produced within 50 miles of Weirton.

As an added bonus, many of the vendors accept senior and Women, Infants and Children vouchers.

The West Virginia University Extension Service sponsors the markets.

Art Beal at Country Friends

Country Friends will host Art Beal and the Country Tradition band on Saturday at the Memorial Hall located at 402 Old Police Lodge Road, Colliers.

Country Friends has events every Monday, Friday and Saturday at the hall. The doors open at 6 p.m. each Saturday, and the dance starts at 7 p.m.

On Monday and Friday nights, the doors open at 4 p.m., and open mic begins at 6 p.m.

Participants can bring a covered dish if they desire for the meal that begins at 5 p.m.

Country Friends Foundation Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting Christian friendship and brotherly love through music.

All proceeds go to charity.
