It's shaping up to be an extra special summertime event sponsored by the Italian American Cultural Club on Aug. 2 at St. Florian Hall in Wintersville.
The club invites everyone to its ninth-annual Una Serata - Festa delle regioni Italiane, which translated means "An Evening at the Festival of Italian Regions."
Something new is going on this year.
Some of the committee members preparing for the upcoming Una Serata on Aug. 2 sponsored by the Italian American Cultural Club by painting backdrops for each cafe from the four selected regions of Abruzzo, Compania, Sicily and Tuscany are, front, from left, Carm Gentile, Mariella Pittera, Louise Donofe and Tina Piergallini, and back, Diane Baker, Carol Almonte, Jane Antonucci, Tami Cashioli, Frank DiCarlantonio, Rob Palladino, Lucia Scaffidi, Todd Piergallini and Sara Havens.
Doors open at 5 p.m. for the event where Italian cafes will be set up that guests can stroll through while learning about the foods and traditions from the regions of Abruzzi, Campania, Sicily and Tuscany.
Each region will feature drawings for a special basket.
Fulvio Ranni & Friends will be the live entertainment for the event that will include "dancing, eating, drinking and enjoying family," according to promotional material.
Scholarship money will be awarded that evening.
Tickets will be $25 for adults and $10 for children under age 12.
