Our area has a rich history of celebrating the birth of our nation, with a variety of activities, fireworks and parades in just about every community up and down the Ohio Valley.
This year will be no different, and we encourage everyone to take some time to head out and take part in as many of the festivities as possible.
The parades of our region are always a major draw, as residents line their city streets to check out displays by our local veterans, high school bands, dance schools, Scout troops and businesses.
No matter the town or the day, they are sure to have something for everyone to enjoy.
Wintersville is bringing its parade back following a year's hiatus. It will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Riesbeck's Food Market, traveling down Main Street and ending at Kroger.
In Chester, Thursday's parade at 4 p.m. is just one of many planned activities, including a 5K race, car show and a concert.
Wellsburg's parade at 7 p.m. Thursday along Charles Street is among the highlights of a week of events in that city.
On Saturday, Weirton's festivities will be combined to include the Independence Day parade, fireworks and the annual Renaissance Weirton Summerfest. The parade will be held on Main Street beginning at 11:30 a.m., with festivities held throughout the day at the Weirton Event Center.
Each parade and event is sure to have its own special twist to bring in the crowds.
We hope to see everyone come out, join with their neighbors, family and friends to watch their local parade and celebrate the birth of our nation.
