Post 33 takes two

STEUBENVILLE - Post 33 defeated visiting Cambridge, 3-1 and 12-3, in a Sunday doubleheader at Vaccaro Field.

Steubenville (12-1) received a complete-game performance from Justin Corsi in the first game and a start into the seventh inning by Aleks Porreca in the second game.

Brian Pierro and Pat Pizzoferrato each singled three times for an RBI in the Game 1 victory. Brenton Colabella added an RBI double.

Chris Murphy totaled two singles and two RBIs in the second outing. Colabella added a single and a pair of RBIs; Alex Young, who finished the game on the mound, a single and an RBI, as did Pizzoferrato and John Linn. Steve Mihalyo added two singles.

Tennis for teens at Starvaggi Park

WEIRTON - Tennis for teens ages 14-19 in all skill levels will be held from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Starvaggi Park. The session will be coordinated by Jeff Gajtka. The $12 registration fee can be paid that day.

Bethany holding soccer camps

BETHANY - Bethany College will hold its soccer camps July 7-11 for those ages 8-13, from July 14-18 for high school girls and July 28-Aug. 1 for high school boys under the direction of John Cunningham.

A clinic in St. Clairsville will be held at the Capstone Complex from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. June 17-18.

Buffo picked for game

BUFFALO, W.Va. - Weir High graduate Meikka Buffo has been selected to participate in the North-South All-Star softball game Thursday. Buffo, who will attend West Liberty, was selected all-OVAC and special mention Class AA all-state.

Murphy records an ace

HOPEDALE - Chris Murphy recorded a hole-in-one at Castle Shannon Golf Course. The Akron resident used a 6-iron on the 168-yard par 3 13th hole. The shot was witnessed by Dave Lucas, Dave Knepp and Rob Minno.
