Band Parents' calendar activities

The Toronto Band Parents will accept orders for its annual community birthday calendar until June 14. All proceeds from the calendar sale will support the Toronto High School Marching Band.

The calendar produced will begin with the month of September 2013 and continue through August 2014. Calendars can be ordered from any member of the Toronto Band Parents or by contacting Carolyn Rodesh at (740) 632-9521 or Julie Ault at (740) 424-8805.

Each calendar costs $10 and includes five calendar listings. Additional birthdates, anniversaries, in memory of and in service listings are available for 50 cents each. No listings from previous years will be included unless they are resubmitted this year. A decorative color photo of the Toronto High School Marching Band will be placed at the top of the calendar. Orders must be pre-paid.

First Presbyterian Church events

Sunday - Sunday school begins at 9:40 a.m.; worship begins at 11 a.m. Communion will be celebrated during worship service.

Riverview United Methodist Church

Sunday -Toronto Community Summer Bash at Riverview United Methodist Church from noon until 2 p.m. at 105 N. River Ave. Inflatables, games, music and food will be part of the fun. The event is free to Toronto children.

Monday through June 7 - The church Vacation Bible School is set from 5:45 p.m. until 8 p.m. The first 100 children to seventh grade that register /attend will receive a free Vacation Bible School T-shirt. Only youth sizes are available. Register at the summer kickoff bash from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday. The church office is open from 8 a.m. until noon Mondays through Fridays. The Toronto Unit of the Salvation Army located in the Riverview Church is available from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. For information, call (740) 537-4737.

North River Avenue Christian events

Sunday - The worship service begins at 9:45 a.m. At 10:45 a.m. the junior church worship service meets in the junior area downstairs. The service is for ages 5 to fourth grade. Sunday school begins at 11 a.m. The youth group meets at 6 p.m. The evening service begins at 7 p.m.

Monday -The Boy Scouts will meet at 6:30 p.m.

Wednesday - Bible study will begin at 7 p.m. in the overflow room opposite the sanctuary. Adult choir rehearsal will follow at 8:15 p.m.

Sunday - The graduation service is at 9:45 a.m.

First United Methodist listings

Sunday- The early worship service will begin at 8 a.m. Sunday school begins at 9 a.m. The worship service begins at 10 a.m. The Adventure Club pool party will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The Vacation Bible School meeting will be at 6 p.m.

Thursday - T.O.P.S. will meet at 5:30 p.m.

Friday - T.O.P.S. meets at 9 a.m.

Prescription assistance program

Those between ages 18-64 who have no prescription drug insurance can call (740) 537-2210 for assistance. Volunteers will help clients apply for low-cost or no-cost medications. The free program located at the Riverview United Methodist Church, 105 N. River Ave. Assistance is provided on the first Thursday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon. The entrance is handicap accessible.

Those age 65 or older and who have no prescription insurance are eligible for the program.

This is not a distribution center for medications, but assists in filling out paperwork.

Bible Methodist activities

Sunday - Morning Sunday school, 10 a.m.; service, 11 a.m.; evening service, 6 p.m.; weekly Bible study, 5:30 p.m.
