To the editor:

In observation of Family Wellness and Mental Health Awareness during the month of May, the Family Service Association of Steubenville hosted a Calypso Celebration fundraiser May 3 at St. Florian Hall.

Our first attempt at raising funds to benefit our clients was very successful due to the generosity of the community. The board of directors, Executive Director Kathy Cardiff and staff would like to thank the following sponsors for their generosity: EM Media; Frank and Jerry Furniture and Appliances; Trinity Medical Center; Eastern Gateway Community College; GPC Contracting; the Hindman Family Cos.; Tri-State Security; Inland Industrial Service Group; Axess Medical Equipment and Supply; Iron City Distributing; Jefferson Security Services Inc.; Ambulance Services Inc.; Checker Transportation Inc.; Choice Brands; Voto Manufacturing; Rehab Plus; D'Anniballe Family; Manfred's Lounge and Catering; Hairway to Heaven; attorney Steve Stickles; McBane Insurance Co.; Dana Joyce CPA; Valley Wine Center; Thrifty Car Rental; Coffee Mill; Schrickel Chiropractic; Gus's Goodies; Apollo Professional Cleaning; Cardello's; M&M Hardware; Dan Obertance; Rehab Plus; Lincoln Manufacturing; Jefferson County Sheriff Fred Abdalla; Anna-Kay's; Borden Office Equipment; Tri-State Financial Services; Mayle's Sunny Slope Care Facility; attorney Shawn Blake; Barium & Chemicals Inc.; Bellas Co.; WJW Development Inc.; Shari Prichard; the Rev. Vaughn Foster; Kristy Seditz Photography; Piergallini Catering and all of the special individuals who purchased tickets to attend the event.

A special thank you to the Steubenville High School Steel Drum Band for providing the exceptional musical entertainment that topped off our Calypso Celebration. A good time was had by all, and the proceeds will benefit the clients of the Family Service Association so that they can receive quality social services to lead happy and healthy relationships as they become self-sufficient and empowered members of our community.

The Family Service Association already is planning a Calypso Celebration II for next May. Our goal is to double the attendance of this exciting and fun evening of entertainment with a cause in hopes of increasing the ability to provide services to our indigent clients who may be experiencing hardships.

Our local community has shown true generosity and the Family Service Association of Steubenville is privileged to have the opportunity to work toward making a difference in the lives of so many deserving families and individuals.

With sincere gratitude and thanks.
