STEUBENVILLE City Council approved formal agreements with two volunteer non-profit organizations Tuesday night during a special council meeting.

The agreements to allow the Community for Youth Development and the LaBelle Neighbors Who Care to operate the Belleview Pool this summer were approved after city officials met with the groups to review insurance coverage and other issues.

Councilman at-large Kenny Davis has said he would like to see the pool opened with volunteer workers by June 8.

The council had tabled the legislation last week.

During the council sunshine meeting, Sixth Ward Councilman David Lalich introduced legislation to create a third community services worker coordinator position to be funded with a government grant.

And Fifth Ward Councilman Willie Paul proposed a resolution honoring the Catholic Central High School sports program for winning championships three out of the past five years.
