STEUBENVILLE - Concert promoter Ron Brown had just one request Thursday morning for organizers of the third-annual Stars and Stripes Concert and Festival.

"The acts that have performed at the prior Stars and Stripes concert talked about the great food supplied to them and I understand it was from Scaffidi's Restaurant. I am requesting the acts for this year's concert can have that famous Scaffidi's pasta," Brown said at the conclusion of a press conference in the restaurant dining room.

"No problem. We will take care of you," responded Nino Scaffidi from a nearby doorway.

Organizers detailed the entertainment lineup as well as other activities planned for June 30 at the Hollywood City Center, Harding practice field and Harding Stadium.

According to John Cucarese of the concert and festival committee, "the Joseph Sisters of Wheeling will start their performance at 5:30 p.m. on the Harding Stadium stage. They will be followed by the Todd Jones Band at 6:45 p.m., and then Phil Vassar will take the stage at 8:30 p.m."

"If you are not a Phil Vassar fan when you enter the stadium, I guarantee you will be when you leave," promised Cucarese.

Brown said Vassar will perform approximately 75 minutes, "maybe a little longer, and the fireworks crew will know what his final song is. When he finishes the lights at the stadium will dim and the fireworks will start. It is a great way to celebrate America's birthday."

"The opening ceremonies will be held at noon at the Harding practice field. So far we have eight vendors signed up to be at the Stars and Stripe event and we anticipate a couple more joining us soon. A fun zone sponsored by the Fort Steuben Mall will be at the practice field area with free fun for families," Hershey continued.

"New this year will be the BMX stunt show sponsored by Jim Davis Enterprises, also at the practice field. There will be two shows that afternoon with three bike stunt performers," Hershey added.

"I really want to thank Donnie Teramana and the Hollywood City Center for being our title sponsor. With his help we will have something for everyone," noted Cucarese.

It was a sentiment echoed by Steubenville Mayor Domenick Mucci.

"The Teramana family has supported and contributed to our community for years. I really appreciate the Teramana family and all they have done for our city for so many years," Mucci stated.

"I want to encourage everyone who lives in Steubenville, who loves Steubenville and who supports Steubenville to join us at the Stars and Stripes Concert and Festival. We are proud of our city," stated Teramana.

Cucarese said local songwriter and performer Rose Angelica will be singing in the beer garden that will be located in the Kroger parking lot hosted by Iron City Distributing and Choice Brands.

"There will be tons of things to do that day. We will get to see a first-class show right in our own backyard," he added.

Hershey said tickets for the Stars and Stripes Concert will go on sale on May 24 at Kwik King stores in Steubenville, Wintersville and Toronto, as well as Kwik King stores in Follansbee and Weirton. Tickets also will be available at the Peoples Bank in Adena, Dillonvale and Mount Pleasant.

"I am also pleased to announce new ticket outlets at the Fort Steuben Mall customer service center and the visitors center at the Historic Fort Steuben," Hershey cited.

"General admission tickets are $15, and reserved seat tickets are $20. On the day of the concert the general admission tickets will cost $20 and reserved seat tickets will be $25," added Hershey.

The food vendors signed up for the Stars and Stripes Concert and Festival include John Davis Variety Foods, Baby Boyz BBQ Ribs, elephant ears and funnel cakes by Jeff Sickle, the Milliner Mexican Grill, TJ's Concessions with corndogs and pizza, Paul Jeffries Ice Cream Brothers and Chinese cuisine.

Hershey said the BMX Bike Stunt Show will be in action at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. at the Harding Practice Field.

"Also at the practice field we will have Kurt James Inflatables with a Jungle Combo and Zip Line, the Titanic Slide, three inflatable games and dueling bulls. Free photos will be available at the Clear Choice Photo Booth. We will have the Froggy Mascot and the Froggy 103.5 Froggy Van, the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County Bookmobile, a zombie haunted truck and the Nailers mascot," said Hershey.

"A fencing demonstration and display, along with the humane society and some of their favorite pets will also be at the practice field," she said.
