Dog attack being investigated

FOLLANSBEE - A dog attack on Oak Alley that led to the deaths of three dogs is under investigation by City Police.

Wellsburg Police said they were called at about 6:34 a.m. Sunday to the street, where they found two pitbull terriers attacking a collie and shot and killed the pitbulls. The collie died at the scene as a result of the fight, they said.

Wellsburg Police were called to assist because the Follansbee police officer on duty was returning from transporting a subject to the Northern Regional Jail.

According to police reports, three people, including the owner of the pitbulls and the owner of the collie, were treated at the scene by the Brooke County Ambulance Service for bites they received while attempting to stop the fight.

Police said none of the dogs had leashes.
