Norman A. Troia

TROIA, Norman A., 94, of Weirton, WV, passed away Friday May 10, 2013, at the Weirton Geriatric Center.

He was born January 8, 1919, in Weirton, WV. He was the son of the late Thomas and Rose Teti Troia.

He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Louis "Wu," Virgil, Dante, Tom, and Ted Troia.

Norman's memberships included St. Joseph the Worker Church, a U.S. Army WW II veteran, V.F.W. Post No. 2716, Charter Member of B.P.O.E. No. 1801, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, 25 year club, Past President of Weirton Medical Center Auxillary. Norman was a tech sergeant with the 71st Field Artillery Battalion, was in the 5th Armored Division under Gen. George Patton.

Norman retired as a foreman in the galvanizing department of National Steel, Weirton Division. Surviving are his wife of nearly 68 years, Philomena Morgia Troia, whom he married November 27, 1945 in Watertown, NY; sons, Anthony Troia (Denese), David Troia; sister, Diana Rusinovich (Stanley), all of Weirton, WV, granddaughters, Alissa Nardone(Matt) of Wintersville, OH, Vanessa Thomas (Rickey) of Weirton, WV; five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at the Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 380 Penco Road, Weirton, WV, Monday, May 13, 2013, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.

Funeral Mass with liturgy will be Tuesday 10 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Church, Weirton, WV, with Reverend Manuel Gelido presiding.

Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery. Military funeral honors will be provided by Weirton American Legion Post No.10 Honor Guard and the West Virginia Honor Guard. www.steelandwolfe.com
