Crusaders complete season sweep of Big Red

STEUBENVILLE - The Steubenville Catholic Central softball team rolled to a 12-2, six-inning victory over Steubenville Big Red Tuesday at Franciscan University of Steubenville to complete the season sweep of their city rivals.

Taylor Clark, Alex McComb and Megan Lloyd each drove in a pair of runs for the Crusaders. Sammi Giannamore had a single and a double with Maddy Gulan, Maddy Metcalf, Abby Miller and Tori Knight each driving in a run. McComb was the winning pitcher, striking out seven over the full six innings of work.

Big Red's Mallory Giannamore had a single and an RBI with Abby Taylor adding a single.

The Crusaders (20-4) host Toronto Saturday while Big Red hosts Buckeye Local today.

Toronto tops Bridgeport

TORONTO - The Toronto softball team defeated Bridgeport 9-7 Tuesday to move to 15-6 on the season.

Cari Horne was credited with the win, entering in the sixth in relief of starting pitcher Shane Sears. Kayla Brown had a double with Becca Schaming, Sears, Horne, Emily Anderson, Lexie Berger, Chelsea Anderson, Myranda Blanton and Carley Cooper each connecting for a single.

Toronto faces St. John Central Thursday.

Wildcats claw Bellaire

RICHMOND - The Edison softball team rolled to a 9-1 win over Bellaire Tuesday.

The Wildcats scored eight runs in the opening two frames, which was more than enough for Zoe Westfall, who struck out 10 and walked none to earn the complete game victory. Ashlee Miller led the Wildcats' offense with a triple, single and three RBIs. Lynsey Morrison drove in two runs on a double and a single with Molly McCoy adding a double and two singles.

Edison (15-9) hosts Cardinal Mooney today.

STEUBENVILLE - The Steubenville Catholic Central baseball team claimed an easy 10-0 decison over visiting Bellaire Tuesday.

Nick Ivkovich held the Big Reds' bats to just three hits while striking out eight and walking just one.Tony Barber and Brenton Colabella each had a pair of singles with Chris Murphy, Johnny DiCarlantonio and Michael Barber each adding one base hit.

Central (14-6) travels to Beaver Local today.

Cole Yeater had a pair of singles to lead the Redskins. Alex Young, Jimmy Bolyog and Jonathan Woodbury each had one single.
