Roy E. Miles

MILES, Roy E., 73, of Mingo Junction, Ohio, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 4, 2013, in his home.

He was born Oct. 12, 1939, in Tappan Lake, Ohio, a son of the late James R. and Mildred U. (Butler) Miles.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a brother, James "Buddy" Miles and two sisters, Frances Arkley and Jane Juanita Blackburn.

Roy was a retired steel hauler for Weir Cove Moving and Storage. He was also in the Teamsters union for 33 years and was a former member of the Mingo Sportsmans Club. He also used to haul produce for the former Canella's Grocery Store.

Roy enjoyed going to auctions picking up "treasures" and he was also a hobby farmer having oxen, horses and cattle.

Surviving are his wife, Laura (Clark) Miles; one son, John (Cheryl) Miles of Champaign, Illinois; three daughters, Patty Bell of Mingo Junction, Mildred "Mickey" (Chris) Lash of Richmond, Ohio and Sam (Michael) Bell of Mingo Junction; a sister, Grace Wells of Mingo Junction; and nine grandchildren, Daniel Kish, Robert "Bobby" Channels, Jonathon Miles, Aaron Channels, Joshua Miles Channels, Zachery Miles, Skyler Bell, Ava Bell and Pyper Bell.

Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 712 Third St., Brilliant, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jimm Woods, officiating. Interment will follow at Northern Cemetery in Smithfield, Ohio.
